Rough is fine. I measure everything properly at the visit. This just means I turn up with the right ideas.
01Photos of the space
The whole wall from the doorway, then close-ups of anything in the way: sockets, switches, radiators, pipes, the boiler, skirting and coving.
02Rough sizes
Width, height from floor to ceiling, and how far it can come into the room. A photo of the wall with the numbers written on it is perfect.
03What it is for
What goes inside: long coats or shirts, folded clothes, shoes, books, a TV, files. A quick list helps more than anything.
04A look you like
Two or three pictures from Pinterest or Instagram, or one of my jobs. It tells me more than any description.
05Your details and parking
Your name and address, which floor, stairs or lift, and the parking: easy, restricted, permit needed, free nearby, or a permit you can give me. In London it matters.
06Budget and timing
A rough figure and when you would like it done, so I can suggest the right materials from the start.

A 3D drawing to approve
With real measurements. We change it until it is right, and nothing is cut until you sign it off.
Built in 18 mm board
Throughout, backs included. No thin 8 mm sheets.
Fitted to your room
Scribed to your walls, floor and ceiling, with the room left clean when I go.
Materials, in plain English
Most fitted furniture is made from one of these. Not sure? Pick "not sure" in the brief below and I will suggest what suits the room and the budget.

MDF
££££Best for Wardrobes, cupboards and shelving that will be painted later.
Built and fitted in bare MDF, ready to paint when you are, by you or your decorator. A good, affordable board that stays flat and straight.

Painted MDF
££££Best for Painted wardrobes, alcove units, bookcases, panelled doors.
Smooth and stable, so it takes paint well and stays flat. I build it ready for your decorator, who can paint it any colour you like.

Moisture-resistant MDF
££££Best for Bathrooms, utility rooms, anywhere with steam or splashes.
The green board. Worked the same way as normal MDF, but copes far better with damp. Painted like normal MDF.

Birch plywood
££££Best for A natural wood look, modern rooms, desks and kids' rooms.
Strong and light in colour, and the layered edge looks good left on show. Usually finished clear, so the grain shows.

Walnut and oak
££££Best for Desks, shelves and pieces you want to stand out.
Real hardwood character and the richest look, at the highest cost. It often works best where you see and touch it most, like a desk top.

IKEA PAX, built in
££££Best for Big wardrobes on a tighter budget.
IKEA frames and fittings inside, built in with MDF tops and end panels up to the ceiling and finished with painted doors, so it looks fitted, not flat-pack.

£ to ££££ shows how the materials compare with each other. It is not a price: every job is quoted on its own.

What customers say
From my Google Business Profile.
“Raf has created bespoke cabinetry and panelling for us in our kitchen, living room and bedroom as well as some additional smaller pieces. Everything has been done to a very high standard and we couldn't recommend him more highly!”
Yasmin“We were really impressed by the quality of the work Raf did. Also with his punctuality. He designed and installed our fitted wardrobes to a quality that he would have done in his own house I think. Really cared about the outcome. We feel so lucky to have found a carpenter like him in London.”
Marjan“Raf helped us with a bespoke floor to ceiling bookshelf for our first floor landing. He gave us his time to discuss how it would be built and more importantly how he would get it into our house and up to the first floor. He built the bookcase exactly to our specification and design. … The result is a bookcase that fits the space perfectly. We are very pleased with the quality and workmanship of Raf's work.”

Questions people ask
Do you fit kitchens?
Yes, I fit kitchens. I also build fitted furniture: wardrobes, alcove units, bookcases, window seats, desks and storage, plus the pieces around a kitchen, like pantry cupboards and panelling.
Do I need to clear the room?
Yes, please. Clear the room as much as you can, so I have as much space as possible to work. I leave it clean when I go.
Can you work with IKEA PAX?
Yes. Building PAX in with tops, end panels and proper doors is a good way to get a fitted wardrobe for less. There are a few PAX jobs on My Work.
Who paints it?
I focus on the woodwork. Everything is built and fitted ready for your decorator, or left as bare MDF if you would rather paint it yourself.
Can I change things after the drawing?
Yes, that is what the drawing is for. We change it until it is right. Once you sign it off, that is what gets built.
Where do you work?
Across London, from Chiswick to East Finchley, and further out when the job suits.
Ready when you are.
